Midnight City

The yellow sun has said goodnight, but the moon has long since said her goodbyes too. Not that she could be spotted if you looked up. The sky is a hazy, glowing charcoal. The only stars are the ones crawling, stalking, rolling along the damp pavement, illuminated by the bright white neon of the city.
Miles and miles west, country folk are settling into warm cotton sheets while these animals of this booming society are just now sliding out of their svelte v8 coupes in silver spike stilettos and Italian loafers.
Me and my friends may not have that signature city-slicker swagger, but we sure as hell know how to make an entrance, and better yet, go out with a brilliant bang.
We're here for one night and we plan to live it up.
Music pours out of every corner while every taxi cab, street-performer, and vendor excretes a rhythm that we rock to.
Here in this midnight city, we can be a bunch of crazy, professionally fist-pumping kids. And tonight, that's exactly what we're going to be.
We're going to meld in with this crowd; twirling, gyrating, pirouetting, jumping with the ebbing of the bass. The strobe lights are going to daze and disorient us and we're just gonna go with it. We're gonna raise our glasses and drink to the freakin' weekend and when it's all said and done, we'll collapse in a sweaty, disheveled heap on the hard floor of our "pow-wow" room and talk until the 7AM sun lights a country sky.
Then we'll force our sleepless bodies into a standing position, take exponentially more than a safe amount of caffeine into our bloodstreams, and head out to begin a new day.

The weekend can never come fast enough.
