Brothers & Sisters

Allow me to begin this by defining a term.
whore
noun
1. a woman who engages in sexual intercourse for money
(from WordBook app)

There is hardly ANYTHING which irritates me more than when an undeserving, young woman is called this fowl and disgusting word. I can pretty easily guarantee you that no one I know personally engages in sexual intercourse for money. And, yes, I know that when it is said, it is meant to be synonymous to the word "slut" but I can hardly even stand to speak that word! Is it not absolutely awful that we human beings think it is our place to point fingers at our fellow human beings? What right have we to judge those who sin differently than we do? None.
In John 8, we can read about how Jesus Christ himself did not condemn a prostitute for her sinful ways. He simply told her that he expected greater things from her. He gently requested that she change her ways. Jesus Christ expected greater things from a prostitute. He could have easily believed that she was a lost cause. He could have easily believed that, because He was sexually pure and He had never sinned, He was a better person and therefore, was higher in God's eyes. Instead, He spent time with her and taught her how to change.
However, keep in mind that this was the - yes, human - but sinless Jesus Christ....not an average person like you or me. I'm not entirely certain it would be the best approach to go up to our classmates and say, "Hey, I know you can do better than that. Stop committing sexual sin." What I'm saying is, I think it's about time we stop standing against each other and, instead, stand with each other. One person's fornication is the equivalent of another's disobedience of the law. One person enjoying a few cold ones with some buddies every once in a blue moon is no different than another person's pride. Incessantly taking the Lord's name in vain is just as saddening to God as the sight of one of his children idolizing a false god.
The question to sum it up is this: Can we try a little harder not to pass judgement on each other? Can we view each other as equals; as brothers and sisters in Christ? Or is that too much to ask?
