A Message Through a Song

They say that when words fail, music speaks...I couldn't have said what I had to say better than Alison Krauss :)
This song means something to me because there was someone in my life a while ago who reminded me very much of the guy in the song.
I like the way Alison Krauss gently describes how lost and confused this so-called 'lucky one' is and how she is almost morbidly impressed by the way he can live his life without a care. It's also interesting to me, though, because you know that she once loved this man or was in some sort of relationship with him, and she's not just judging him from afar. She knows his ways and has tried to break the barrier, but has just decided to sit back and allow him to do what he wants, maybe in a final conclusion that she cannot change him.
All that one can take from this song, I once experienced with or saw happen to this person who was at one point someone who meant a lot to me.

The Lucky One

You’re the lucky one so I’ve been told
Free as the wind blowin' down the road
Loved by many, hated by none
I’d say you were lucky cause I know what you’ve done
Not a care in the world, not a worry in sight
Everything’s going to be all right
Cause you’re the lucky one

You’re the lucky one always havin' fun
A jack of all trades, a master of none
You look at the world with a smiling eye
And laugh at the devil as his train rolls by
Just give you a song and a one-night stand
And you’ll be looking at a happy man
Cause you’re the lucky one

Were you blessed? I guess
By never knowin' which road you’re choosing
To you the next best thing to playin' and winning
Is playin' and losin'

You’re the lucky one I know that now
Don’t ask you why when where or how
You look at the world through your smilin' eye
And laugh at the devil as his train rolls by
Just give you a song and a one-night stand
And you’ll be looking at a happy man
Cause you’re the lucky one

Were you blessed? I guess
By never knowin' which road you're choosing
To you the next best thing to playin' and winning
Is playin' and losin'

You’re the lucky one I know that now
Don’t ask you why when where or how
No matter where you’re at is where you’ll be
You can bet your luck won’t follow me
Just give you a song and a one-night stand
And you’ll be looking at a happy man
Cause you’re the lucky one.
