Look At Us

Seriously. Take a step back and look at all of us.
Some of us think we've got it all figured out; that we're marching steadily down the straight and narrow. Nothing we do is wrong. We've got our relationships, headed straight for the altar (or in my humble opinion, headed straight for hell), and our lives built around them. We've got our parties with a select group of friends; all of us with a drink in hand and our drinks held high. And we can't help but think how grown up we look right now. We're all addicted to something; be it caffeine or drugs. We've witnessed deaths: of best friends, of grandpas, and of fathers. We've witnessed birth....some of us, the birth of our own child.
We've been through heartbreak, we've wondered about life's meaning, we've lost our best friends (or as some might call them, our "sisters" or "brothers"), we've blamed ourselves for everything and lost all self confidence. We've learned all there is to know about survival in this cruel, cold world. We've applied those survival tactics. And we've made it through.
We think we've got it totally together, but truthfully...
we're ALL so beautifully broken, so masterfully twisted by our own devise. Look at us! We're mini adults. We're laughing, crying, birthing, tweeting, gossiping, living, breathing...
TEENAGERS.

And through my eyes, we're really not all that different after all.
