What is purity?
Purity is to be abstinent. Purity is to save yourself for marriage. In official & basic words, yes...this is what purity is.
But what surrounds purity? What is the basis? What are the thoughts that fill your head? What are the things you do? The steps you take?
To be pure is the feeling of the cool, spring breeze on my skin when I walk out the door, and the smell of growth and of life that engulfs my lungs when I breathe in.
Purity is laying on the moist ground with the soft green grass tickling my toes. I can see flowers in bloom; tulips, pansies, wisteria, magnolias.
To be pure is to be unhindered by the world and the sin that coats it, thickly.
To feel unhindered is to sit by the fire, underneath the stars, my head on Nathan's shoulder as he plays me Stairway to Heaven for the thousandth time.
Writing love on my arms, and our names in the sand.
To feel totally untouched is to rest in my warm, safe bed with the rain pouring buckets outside my window, a candle warming the room with gentle light and a sweet smell.
To be completely sound in the head is to run - hard - and sort every document in my filing cabinet...mentally speaking.
And the most wonderful part of all?
To feel love in its purest form. No lust to taint. No desire to move physically faster. Just the ability to indulge in the moment. To love what you have. To love....life. Pure.
